Espinoza motivated, wins second Kentucky Derby

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Jockey Victor Espinoza says riding California Chrome he's motivated. With Saturday's win in the Kentucky Derby, Espinoza has now won five straight races on the back of the California bred Colt.

Espinoza said he didn't sleep for two nights after winning the Santa Anita Derby on April 5. "I was like really, really excited and looking forward for this horse. If everything was going well, then I can have my second Derby. It's just amazing. I remember I started dating my girlfriend. She told me, You need to win one more. I'm ready to retire now."

That brought a reaction from co-owner Steve Coburn. "You got two more races to go." said Coburn. Espinoza, quickly approaching his 42nd birthday is motivated. "I think it just motivates myself more, to push myself a little bit more. It's like a dream now."

Coburn, along with co-owner Perry Martin, rejected a $6 million offer for 51 percent interest in California Chrome.
