Fans invited to watch selection show with UK women

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 10/11 Kentucky women’s basketball team will host a NCAA Selection Show Party on Monday, March 17 in Memorial Coliseum. Fans are welcome to join head coach Matthew Mitchell and his Wildcats as they await their seeding for their 11th NCAA Tournament berth, including school-record fifth in a row. The program will be shown live on the big screen and doors will open to the general public at 6 p.m. ET with the selection show airing on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET.

All E-Lots adjacent to Memorial Coliseum will be available for general public parking beginning at 4 p.m. ET. There will be a limited number of reserved handicap parking spaces available in the North Craft Lot on a first-come, first-served basis until full with a valid state-issued handicap tag. Should Employee Lots fill, additional parking will be available in Parking Structure #5 (next to Kennedy’s Bookstore) for a nominal fee. No shuttle services will be provided for the event.

The concession stands will be open on the west side of Memorial. NCAA brackets will be available at no charge. Coach Mitchell will address fans after all of the pairings have been announced. The UK ticket office will be open during and after the selection show for fans to purchase NCAA Tournament tickets.

For the first time in program history, Kentucky has been selected to host the First and Second Rounds of the 2014 NCAA Tournament in the storied Coliseum. The games will be held Saturday, March 22 at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. ET and Monday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Every person, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter the facility. All seating in Memorial Coliseum is reserved. Chairback seats are located on the west side (Sections A-J and AA-JJ). Bleacher seats are located on the east side (Sections R-Z and RR-ZZ). All seats in rows 3-6 are chairbacks.

Single-session reserved tickets are $22 for adults (ages 19-64), $15 for youth (ages 0-18) and for seniors (ages 65+). Single-session group rate is $8 for groups of 10 or more people (bleacher side seating only). Contact the UK Ticket Office if interested in group seating.
All-session ticket prices are $36 for adults (ages 19-64) and $24 for youth (0-18) and seniors (65+). All-session tickets are valid for two games on Saturday and one game on Monday. Fans may not leave the Coliseum and re-enter between games on Saturday. Fans are encouraged to purchase all-session tickets to secure the best possible seats.

Individuals requiring special access (e.g., individuals who are disabled and/or need special seating) should contact the UK Ticket Office during regular business hours, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. ET Monday through Friday. Tickets will be administered in accordance with ADA guidelines, based on availability.

Kentucky (24-8, 10-6 Southeastern Conference) has compiled an outstanding resume this season which includes UK’s fifth consecutive 20-win season, a top-four finish in the league standings for the fifth straight season and wins over six nationally ranked opponents, including four over the top 10 (Baylor, Louisville, South Carolina and Tennessee). UK also had an impressive showing in the SEC Tournament last week, earning a first-round bye before defeating Florida, 75-70, in the quarterfinals and upsetting No. 5/7 and top-seeded South Carolina in the semifinals, 68-58.. The Wildcats fell in a heartbreaker to No. 6 Tennessee in the championship game, 71-70.
UK, which has a current RPI and strength of schedule ranked ninth according to the NCAA, will be appearing in its 11th NCAA Tournament, including school-record fifth in a row. UK has advanced to the Elite Eight in three of its last four tournament appearances, including two straight. The Wildcats have earned a No. 2 seed the past two seasons.
