Former Lexington Legend Pence, Giants agree to huge deal

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Hunter Pence and the San Francisco Giants have tentatively agreed to a five-year contract, pending a physical.

A formal announcement of the deal, reportedly worth $90 million, is expected to be made on Sunday.

Pence, batting .282 with a career-high 26 home runs and 94 RBIs, received the Willie Mac Award on Friday night, which is given to the Most Inspirational Giant.

The two-time All-Star outfielder came to the Giants in a trade last July and was credited with being instrumental in helping San Francisco win its second World Series title in three years.

The right fielder leads the NL with 369 putouts. He has an 88 percent success rate in stolen bases and is third with 298 total bases.

Pence finished third in the Rookie of the Year voting with the Houston Astros in 2007.
