LOS ANGELES (AP) The NBA says Shelly Sterling has informed the league of her deal with Steve Ballmer to purchase the Los Angeles Clippers, but next week's owners hearing remains scheduled while she provides the necessary documentation.
Sterling announced late Thursday night that she'd signed a binding contract for a sale of the Clippers by The Sterling Family Trust to the former Microsoft CEO for a record-breaking $2 billion.
NBA spokesman Mike Bass says in a statement that the owners' advisory/finance committee discussed that during a conference call Friday morning.
The league is planning a hearing Tuesday in New York to consider the charge against Donald Sterling for damaging the league with his racist comments. Owners could vote to terminate his ownership - and Shelly's as well - during that hearing.
