LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Former Kentucky Mr. Basketball Anthony Hickey appears headed to Oklahoma State, according to a report in The Oklahoman.
Hickey, who was one of three players to leave LSU last month, after the school decided not to renew his scholarship.
Hickey could be eligible immediately, pending an NCAA waiver following his release from LSU. An NCAA “run off” rule was created two years ago for just such incidents.
Former Wildcat Travis Ford is the coach at Oklahoma State, and lost guards Marcus Smart and Markel Brown, who handled the majority of the minutes at the point guard position for the Cowboys last season.
Hickey would likely start for OSU. For his career, the former Christian Co. star averaged 9.4 points and 3.8 assists at LSU. He led the SEC as a junior with a 2.6 assists-to-turnover ratio.
