GEORGETOWN Ky, - Allan Thomas came off the bench and scored half of his eight points in the final minutes from the free throw line to help Georgetown College escape a streaky Martin Methodist team.

The No. 3 Tigers (6-1) hung on for the 68-63 win over the No. 22 RedHawks (2-4) in the semifinals of the 19th Annual Central Bank Jim Reid Classic.

GC had a 14-point edge with less than five minutes to play. But Martin rallied with sharp three-point shooting. Marlon Williams hit a three for a 60-58 GC lead and got no closer. Four big free throws from Thomas helped to ice the game, along with a dunk from Mychal Parker and a turnover by the RedHawks.
Vic Moses led the Tigers with 15 points and 11 rebounds. The balanced offense had four players in double figures – Deondre McWhorter (14), Parker (13) and Garel Craig (11).

The win puts GC finals against Life University. The Running Eagles breezed in the semifinals 111-68 over UC Clermont. GC has won 16 Classic championships, but one loss did come at the hands of Life back in 2009.

Tip for the championship game is set for 4 pm. UC Clermont and Martin Methodist will play in the consolation at 2 pm.
