Gran impressed with incoming freshmen

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - With the Wildcats reporting for fall practice Thursday the serious work will begin for the 2016 season. Coach Mark Stoops is hopeful that another strong class of incoming freshmen will build his program for the future.

Just how many freshmen will play this season remains to be seen, several would be expected to redshirt. But the man now in charge of the UK offense, Eddie Gran, likes what he has seen over the summer.

"You know they really seem like they've come in with a purpose," said Gran. "Not only in the classroom but they just seem locked in. It's a good group."

Gran is the assistant head coach in charge of the offense and he's also coaching UK's running backs. The freshmen are Asim "A.J." Rose from Cleveland, Ohio and Benny Snell from Westerville, Ohio. Gran likes what he sees in both.

"They look the part of it, the physical part of it." said Gran. "Not sure of physically yet when everything starts flying and the bullets start coming. That's going to get a little bit different, they'll find out."

Kentucky has Media Day scheduled for Friday. Fan day is set for Saturday.
