Happy Osborne is happy to be at Montgomery County

LEXINGTON, Ky (WKYT) - When Happy Osborne tood over the boys basketball team at Montgomery County this season, it was a homecoming of sorts for the coach who spent the better part of the past three decades coaching at the college level.

"More than anything it's just good to be back in Kentucky, says Osborne. "I love central Kentucky and it's where I want to live and where I want to be."

08:40 "MORE THAN ANYTHING IT'S JUST GOOD TO BE BACK IN KENTUCKY. I LOVE CENTRAL KENTUCKY AND IT'S WHERE I WANT TO LIVE AND WHERE I WANT TO BE."

Osborne spent 31 years at Georgetown College, 15 of those years as the head coach, but left the program after discussions of the school going from the NAIA to Division Three.

Following one season as an assistant on the Tennesse Tech team, Happy was happy to have the opportunity to return to coaching at Montgomery County. Of course, there are difference in coaching at the high school level after so many years working with the college players.

"Patience, you learn patience, but at the end of the day you love your kids. You want them to do well and that part is no different."

Osborne says his goal is for Montgomery County to be mentioned in the same breath as the top teams in the state.

"I just want to take it and it be the best it can be. It's not going to be the best it can be because of Happy Osborne. It's going to be the best because of these kids."
