Baffert said there was an issue with Hoppertunity 's left front foot and he didn' t feel comfortable with running the horse.
Baffert is hopeful that it is just a bruise and that Hoppertunity can run in the Preakness. Hoppertunity is being sent to Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington to have it checked out.
The defection gives also-eligible Pablo Del Monte, the third place finisher in the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes, the opportunity to enter. If he runs, Pablo Del Monte will break from the far outside No. 20 post position and will be No. 21 in the program.
Pablo Del Monte trainer Wesley Ward, who is a part-owner, said he will confer with the other owners to decide if they want to run.
