Lexington, KY (WKYT) - Former UK power forward, and fan favorite, Josh Harrellson was waived by the NBA's Houston Rockets on Wednesday, this according to the Houston Chronicle. Harrellson, who was acquired by the Rockets on July 11 in a trade with the New York Knicks, was let go to make room for free-agent acquisition Carlos Delfino, the team announced.
Harrellson averaged just a little more than four points and four rebounds in 37 games during his rookie season with the Knicks. Harrellson was dealt to the Rockets as part of a deal to bring in Marcus Camby.
Harrellson's contract was not guaranteed although it would have become guaranteed on Thursday, the Chronicle reported.
The 6-foot-10 Harrellson averaged 12 points and eight rebounds in eight Kentucky post-season games in 2010-11 in helping lead the Wildcats to the Final Four.
