LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) Quarterback Patrick Towles is excited about his opportunity as Kentucky's starting quarterback. Towles will be play in his first game since 2012 when the Wildcats kickoff the season against UT-Martin.
After playing briefly as a freshman, Towles was told he would redshirt last year. He wasn't about to leave Kentucky.
"I've been Kentucky through and through for my entire life." said Towles. "I've heard "no" a lot and it was just the last time that I wanted to hear "no'."
Towles was told there were areas where he needed to improve his game. He said that included everything fundamentally.
"You have to be fundamentally almost perfect to play well in this league, consistently play well, especially against the people we play. My feet had to get better, my release had to change, ya know I really had to get my head on straight and really go after this thing and that's what I did."
