LONDON, Ky. – The American Junior Golf Association PNC Bank Junior Championship will be held Aug. 5-8 at Crooked Creek Golf Club in London, Ky.
The 144-player field includes players from 20 states, along with Canada, China, Japan and Ecuador. Sixteen of the players are from Kentucky. At least six players have committed to college teams.
London natives Alex Davis and Korey Philpot will be playing in their first AJGA Open events. Elsa Moberly of Science Hill, Ky., is the highest-ranked Kentucky native in the field at No. 123 in the Polo Golf Rankings. The rising junior has six top-10 finishes in national competition on her resume and will seek her first AJGA victory.
Emily Kurey of Alpharetta, Ga., will compete in one of her final junior events at Crooked Creek Golf Club, but the future Louisville Cardinal will be close to her future home. She won the 2012 Under Armour® / Scott Stallings Championship presented by True Temper to cap off last year's season and will seek her first AJGA title of 2013.
Also competing is Sophia Schubert of Oak Ridge, Tenn., the only Rolex Junior All-American in the field. She is No. 158 in the Polo Golf Rankings behind the strength of a victory at the 2012 Bridgestone Golf / Brandt Snedeker Music City Junior presented by Toyota. The Auburn verbal commit has amassed two top-10 AJGA finishes in 2013 and looks to claim her first AJGA title of the year at Crooked Creek Golf Club.
A practice round will be held Monday and the first round starts Tuesday. The final round is scheduled for Thursday with the awards ceremony at 2:30 p.m.
