LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK freshman running back Jojo Kemp is a Florida native but until this week he was unaware the Gators had won 26 straight over the Wildcats. Kemp said he had no idea, he was filled in on Facebook Tuesday night. "We definitely have to change that some time while I'm here, I cannot go through that."
Kemp is from DeLand, Florida and he could be starting in the Kentucky backfield Saturday, ahead of senior Raymond Sanders. "Ray really hasn't done anything wrong but Jojo has been explosive," said UK offensive coordinator Neal Brown. "Regardless of who we were playing this week, he was going to get some more opportunities."
Kemp rushed for 80 yards on five carries in Kentucky's last game against Louisville. His effort included a 47 yard burst, impressing coach Mark Stoops. "Hes had some good runs and playing hard and having some energy, so it's always good. You know I'm a big fan of Jojo and I love Raymond too, I want Raymond to continue to play well."
Kentucky and Florida will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. Saturday night at Commonwealth Stadium. The game will be televised by ESPNU.
