LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Nick Laureano, a senior at Lexington Catholic, is this year’s winner of the Tommy Bell Award, given annually by the Lexington Rotary Club.
Laureano is a four-year member of the track and cross country teams at Lexington Catholic. He won six regional titles and was runner-up in the 2011 state cross country championship. Laureano won the state title in cross country and the 1,600 meters this past season.
Laureano will graduate in the top five percent of his class with a 3.9 GPA. He currently is president of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Beta Club and Latin Club.
He will attend Notre Dame this fall and will compete as a member of the track and cross country teams.
The Tommy Bell Award is given each year to Lexington’s outstanding high school student-athlete. The award is named in honor of Lexington resident Tommy Bell, who is best known for his 14-year career as an NFL referee.
