Outfielder Dominique Taylor of the Lexington Legends was named Most Valuable Player in the 2014 South Atlantic League All-Star game.
Taylor entered the game in the bottom of the fifth inning as a replacement for David Dahl of Asheville in center field. Taylor doubled in the seventh inning and hit a two-run single in the 10th, putting the Southern Division team ahead 4-2. The Northern Division rallied to tie the score in the bottom of the 10th. League rules prohibit the All-Star game from going longer than 10 innings, and the game ended in a 4-4 tie.
The other Legends representative, catcher-first baseman Frank Schwindel, was 0-for-2 in the game but reached base on a force play in the 10th, stole second base, and scored along with Victor Caratini of Rome on Taylor's single.
The Legends resume regular season play Thursday night in Salisbury, Maryland against the Delmarva Shorebirds. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
