Legends welcome EKU Thursday night

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Lexington Legends will welcome members of the Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team for a special appearance and ceremonial first pitch before Thursday night’s game at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

The Legends will take on the Lakewood BlueClaws, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, at 7:05 p.m. Thursday. Pregame ceremonies will begin at approximately 6:40 p.m., with a ceremonial first pitch at about 6:50 p.m.

The Colonels won their sixth Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship and made the program’s eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in 2014. EKU nearly upset No. 2 seed Kansas in tournament play, leading the Jayhawks with 8:55 left in the game and trailing by only five points with 2:28 left.

Eastern Kentucky finished with a 24-10 record, the second most wins in program history. The Colonels finished the season ranked 19th in the Mid-Major Top 25 and finished with an RPI of 97.

Glenn Cosey, who broke the EKU record for three-pointers in a season with 115 and in a single game with 10, is expected to take the mound for a ceremonial first pitch.
