Lexingon Catholic wins lacrosse title

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The 2014 KLA High School Championship played at Bryan Station High School on Saturday, May 17th. Lexington Catholic defeated Henry Clay 6-5 to win its 1st State Championship in Lacrosse. The team finished the season with an overall record of 16-7, and went undefeated in league play (10-0) and only lost to 2 in-state schools.

Josh Mesmer was selected as the MVP of the championship game with three goals and tw assists. Marty Brown, Andrew Moloney and Trey Queenan all added one goal each. Matt Cervoni had 12 saves in goal. Stevan Kriss caused six turnovers and eight ground balls.

Head Coach Matt Campbell (in his third year stated: “I could not be prouder of the accomplishments of these young men. The countless hours of hard work paid off and allowed them to achieve their goal of winning a state championship. It is all them. They did what they had to do to achieve what they wanted, and they got it!”
