Marcus Lewis wins Facebook dunk contest

CHICAGO – Eastern Kentucky University senior Marcus Lewis has won the 2014 "State Farm Dark Horse Dunker" Facebook competition and will now compete at the State Farm College Slam Dunk Championship held in Dallas during the 2014 Final Four.

The slam dunk contest, part of the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships event, will be held April 3 at 9 p.m. ET, live on ESPN. The competition will take place at Southern Methodist University's Moody Coliseum.

Lewis will be one of eight participants in the Slam Dunk Championship. The rest of the field will be announced March 31.

With 58 percent of the vote, Lewis defeated Justin Simmons from the University of Nebraska Omaha in the finals. Fans determined the winner by voting daily on Facebook (Click here to see results) throughout the five-week competition. The "State Farm Dark Horse Dunker" competition was a 16-player bracket-style elimination competition. Voting began Feb. 10.

Lewis is a 6-foot-4 guard. The Streamwood, Ill., native has left Colonel fans in awe with his spectacular dunks during his two seasons in maroon and white. His alley-oop dunk last season at Southeast Missouri climbed to No. 3 on ESPN's SportsCenter Top-10 Plays, was a finalist for GEICO Play of the Year and advanced to the finals of the Dunk of the Year Tournament.
