BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Makayla Epps scored 26 points as Marion County beat Bowling Green 64-43 in the first round of the KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 on Wednesday.
Epps also added eight rebounds, five steals and four assists. Kyvin Goodin-Rogers had 19 points, 13 rebounds and four steals.
Marion County (31-0) finished the game with 11 blocks and 15 steals and held Bowling Green (30-5) to 23.6 percent shooting.
The Region 5 champion Knights started the game on an 18-2 run as Bowling Green went without a field goal until the 2:35 mark of the first quarter.
Diamond Marshall led the Region 4 champion Purples with 15 points. Makayla Gray added 11 points and nine rebounds.
