Mitchell focuses on defense heading into SEC

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK women's basketball coach Matthew Mitchell focused on defense as his team prepared to open SEC play. Kentucky's conference opener is Thursday afternoon at Alabama.

"Consistency is the thing that I would look for." said Mitchell. "We have some good players and we have players that make some plays in the game. But I still don't feel like from a team aspect , we always have five players in the right position executing the correct fundamentals throughout the possession."

Mitchell said his team would need to do a good job in transition defense against Alabama. The Cats rebounded from their loss to Duke by crushing Grambling Sunday. They are 12-1 going into the SEC, Alabama is 7-6.

Thursday's game will tip at 3:00 p.m. ET in Tuscaloosa, it is not televised.
