Lexington, KY (WKYT) – The five finalists for Kentucky’s Mr.and Miss Basketballs have been announced.
The Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation sponsors the award given annually to the state’s top high school player.
This year’s finalists are: Dominique Hawkins (Madison Central), Darryl Hicks (Trinity), Omar Prewitt (Montgomery Co.), Rusty Troutman (Bullitt East) and Derek Willis (Bullitt East).
Hawkins and Prewitt led their teams to the Boys Sweet 16. Hawkins was named the Most Valuable Player, leading the Indians to their first state championship.
Voting by statewide media members concludes on March 20. The winner will be announced March 29 in Louisville. Mr. and Miss Basketball will wear the customary No. 1 jerseys in the annual Kentucky vs. Indiana All-Star games.
Finalists for Miss Basketball are: Larryn Brooks (Madison Central), China Dow (Christian Academy of Louisville), Makayla Epps (Marion Co.), Kyvin Goodin-Rogers (Marion Co.) and Becca Greenwell (Owensboro Catholic).
