LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Texas Tech's athletic director says the NCAA has accepted the school's self-imposed penalties after former Red Raiders coach Billy Gillispie exceeded limits on practice time last fall.

Kirby Hocutt said in statement Wednesday that the governing body for college sports notified the school last week that it deemed them secondary violations.

Hocutt reprimanded Gillispie for the infractions in January.

In September, Gillispie resigned because of health concerns. His departure came about a month after players alleged to Hocutt that the coach was mistreating them.

The team was docked twice the number of hours per week that Gillispie had exceeded the limit during a two-week period in December. The NCAA allows 20 hours of practice per week.

The NCAA does not comment on secondary violations.
