LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Julius Randle said all along his right foot did not need surgery and the Los Angeles Lakers gave their stamp of approval Wednesday.
The Lakers obviously felt comfortable making Randle the No. 7 pick in last week's NBA Draft. But they did send him to a foot specialist, Dr. David Porter in Indiana. He agreed with other doctors that no preemptive surgery is needed.
Randle broke his right foot in high school and a pin was inserted, but he never missed a game playing at Kentucky. Questions were raised about the foot leading up to the draft but Randle insisted it was fine.
The Lakers begin practice Monday and their first game in the summer league in Las Vegas is July 11.
