LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky will go into Oxford, Mississippi Tuesday night an underdog. Ole Miss, ranked No. 16 by AP, is rated a 3 1/2 point favorite. The Rebels are unbeaten their first six SEC games and 17-2 overall.
With February approaching, the Wildcats need quality wins and beating Ole Miss on the road would give them their biggest win of the season. John Calipari expects a hard, physical game. "We always like to play front-running teams, which when they got it going good they're chest bumping and doing it and when it goes in they wilt. That's who we've always wanted to play. That's not what Mississippi is."
Calipari said Ole Miss is the kind of team he's coached historically. "It doesn't matter what the score is, we're balling. We're doing this together and if I'm not playing well, I'll do something else to help this team win. Because that's the whole mind set. It's not about me. It's about us and that's how they play. They're good."
Mississippi guard Marshall Henderson leads the SEC in scoring at 19.4 points per game and ranks fifth in the nation averaging 3.9 made 3-pointers per game. Forward Murphy Holloway is a force up front, averaging 14.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.
Tipoff for Kentucky-Ole Miss is 9:00 p.m. the game will be televised by ESPN.
