CALVERT CITY, Ky. (AP) - The owner of a dirt racetrack in western Kentucky is putting the facility up for auction, saying she can't devote the time and attention it needs.

Sherri Heckenast says the Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway will go to the highest bidder on June 27.

Heckenast told The Paducah Sun that, since she is living in Chicago, upkeep at the track is just too difficult.

J.P. King Premier Auction, based in Gadsden, Ala., will hold the auction, which is composed of two parcels of land off Interstate 24. One parcel covers more than 151 acres that includes the race track, grandstands and concession area. The second parcel is more than 317 acres of undeveloped land.

The track hasn't hosted a race in more than two years.
