Poythress talented and versatile

Lexington, Ky. (WKYT) - As the week of Big Blue Madness arrives Kentucky fans are eager to see freshman Alex Poythress. The 6-7 wing out of Clarksville, Tennessee brings a ton of talent to the court and could play three positions, small forward, power forward, or shooting guard.

John Calipari says Poythress may be one of the better athletes hes had at Kentucky but he also says he'll have to develop. Calipari says if Poythress develops a motor, he could be compared to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. "Lets not say Michale Gilchrist but somewhere in that category of a Michael Gilchrist. That every minute you're on the floor you're either diving, you're going after a ball, you're attacking the ball, you're in a defensive stance. You're boucning, you're sprinting, you're doing something, you're motor's moving. You're never jogging, there is no such thing as a jog. When he gets to that point it becomes a little scary."

Gilchrist is confident in his mid-range game and shooting the three. He just wants to improve his total game. "Ya know I'm just trying to tighten up the small things. Tighten up my ball handling, tighten up my shot. Start trying to jump off one leg more, stuff like that."

As for the team he'll be playing, he knows the expectations will be high following up a championship season. "It's going to be tough to follow in this team's footsteps but ya know, we got to do it. there's going to be some pressure but we'll live up to it."
