Pryor Named OVC offensive player of the week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Quarterback T.J. Pryor was named the adidas OVC Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in the Eastern Kentucky University football team’s 42-28 win at Tennessee Tech on Saturday.

Pryor was nearly perfect in the fourth quarter in helping No. 23 Eastern Kentucky (6-2, 4-1 OVC) overcome an eight-point deficit to win at Tech. Trailing 28-20 with 14:49 to play, Pryor completed all seven of his fourth quarter pass attempts for 112 yards and two touchdowns. The native of Louisville, Ky., led his team to 22 unanswered points in improving to 6-2 on the season. Pryor guided the Colonels on a 14-play, 77-yard drive and two-point conversion to tie the game at 28, then threw touchdown passes of 28 yards to junior Ike Ariguzo and 38 yards to senior Cameron Bailey in a 1:39 span to push his team to the win.

Pryor finished the game 23-of-31 for 296 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. For the season, Pryor has 14 passing touchdowns against only two interceptions while also ranking third nationally (FCS) in passing efficiency (174.38). The senior has set three EKU career records this season – passing yardage (6,843), completions (504) and passing touchdowns (50).

The other weekly award winners were Jacksonville State’s Jermaine Hough (Co-Defensive and Newcomer), UT Martin’s DJ Roberts (Co-Defensive) and Jacksonville State’s Griffin Thomas (Specialist).

Eastern Kentucky returns home next weekend to face Eastern Illinois in a nationally-televised game on FOX College Sports. Kick-off on Saturday, Oct. 27 is set for noon.
