DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - The Daytona 500 is in a rain delay. After 39 laps Kyle Busch was the leader.

The pole sitter was Austin Dillon with Martin Truex Jr. starting from the No. 2 spot. Truex's race didn't last long as he blew his engine on lap 30. Truex was considered a strong contender for the season opener after he posted the second-fastest time in pole qualifying last Sunday.

The winner a year ago was Jimmie Johnson, who finished the season with six victories. Danica Patrick faded from third to eighth on the final lap for the highest finish ever by a woman in the event.
