LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Julius Randle is at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago where workouts begin Thursday.
Randle is projected to go No. 4 or No. 5 in the June 26 draft. Jabari Parker, Joel Embid and Andrew Wiggins are all projected to be selected ahead of him but are not attending.
Speaking on NBA TV Wednesday afternoon, Randle said there was never any question that he would attend the combine and work out. "At the end of the day I'm a competitor. I like to see how I stack up against other people and what I can do to improve. So it was never a doubt that I wouldn't be here. Ya know I saw the articles and stuff like that, and questions were asked if I was going to come or not but I mean it was never in doubt. I thought it was only upside for me to come here and talk to teams and go out here and go out here and compete."
Randle said it wasn't a clear cut decision that he would leave UK. "From the outside looking in it may have been clear cut. Just the relationships and the family that I established when I was at Kentucky, it was really hard for me to leave. I didn't necessarily want to (leave) because of the relationships I had with everybody, but at the same time this has always been my dream, always been my goal and there was no better time to leave."
