Randle impresses in Lakers workout

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - On Tuesday Julius Randle put on the purple and gold in a workout for the Los Angeles Lakers. A team with the seventh overall pick and a team Randle grew up rooting for as a kid.

"Growing up I was the biggest fan," said Randle. "Probably more of a Kobe fan, but I was the biggest Lakers fan. To finally be on this court playing and practising is definitely crazy for me."

In front of the Lakers Jim Buss, Mitch Kupchak and their staff, Randle had unquestionably a strong individual workout, that included a 38 inch vertical leap.

"They wanted to see my versatility, how I shoot the ball. They put me on different spots on the floor, seeing how my hands are and testing my skills out."

Skills that earned him SEC Freshman of the Year, while helping to lead Kentucky to the NCAA National Championship game. When asked about the growing concern over his reportedly injured foot, Randle's answer was simple.

"Did it look like it? There you go."

Randle went on to say that rumours of foot surgery could be a motive of one team that would like Randle to slip in the draft to them. He says he isn't concerned with his stock dropping because he feels he's better than any player in the draft.

"How do I rate myself against them? I feel like I'm the best one. I don't put myself second to anybody. That's my attitude on the floor, and my attitude when I compete. That's just how I was raised to be."
