MOREHEAD, Ky. – The second meeting of the season between the Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team and rival Morehead State University is set for Saturday.

The Colonels are 18-6 overall after a 97-31 non-conference win over Crowley’s Ridge on Tuesday. Eastern has a 7-3 Ohio Valley Conference record and sits in second place in the OVC East.
When EKU beat Crowley’s Ridge, eighth year head coach Jeff Neubauer became the second winningest coach in program history with 136 victories on the Colonel bench.
Eastern has shot 50 percent or better from the field in five of its last six games. In those five games, the Colonels have made 53 percent (136-of-256) of their shots.
Sophomore Robbie Stenzel had a career night against Crowley’s Ridge. The Winchester, Ky., native set career-highs for points (14), field goals (5), field goals attempted (6), three-pointers (3), three-point attempts (4), assists (3), steals (3) and minutes (22).
The Eagles are 11-13 overall and 5-5 in OVC play. Morehead State has lost two straight and three of its last four. MSU is led by 6-foot-6 forward Milton Chavis. The senior is averaging a team-best 11 points to go along with 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals.
As a team, the Eagles score 71 points per game and allow 70. MSU has hit 43 percent from the field, 32 percent from three-point range and 69 percent from the free throw line. Morehead State has out-rebounded its opponents by 6.2 boards per contest. The Eagles rank 12th in the nation with an average of 9.6 steals per game.
In their last game, the Eagles lost at Jacksonville State, 70-59, on Saturday. MSU allowed the Gamecocks to shoot 66 percent from the field and 55 percent from three-point range. Morehead State turned it over 25 times. Jourdan Stickler had a team-best 12 points.
Eastern leads the all-time series 105-74, but Morehead State holds a 44-37 advantage in games played in Morehead.
