Smith staying; Collins leaving Wildcats

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – UK football is losing a player, while another announces he will return for another season.

Wide receiver Daryl Collins, a sophomore from Gadsden, Ala., is leaving the program, UK confirmed. Collins had one reception for five yards this past season.

Defensive end Za’Darius Smith, a highly touted junior college transfer, announced via Twitter on Saturday that he was staying with the Wildcats another year.

“Big Blue Nation.. I have made my decision. I will be staying in Lexington another year. #WeAreUK,” Smith Tweeted.

Smith’s return, coupled with the announcement on Friday that Alvin “Bud” Dupree also was returning, gives the Wildcats a solid defensive end alignment.
