LEXINGTON – The Bluegrass Sports Commission (BSC) and Midway College today announced they have agreed to a partnership centered on the college’s Sport Management program. The two organizations will work together on a number of programs involving the advancement of the sport management program and its students.
“We are excited about partnering with the Bluegrass Sports Commission and what this can mean for our students,” said Midway President Dr. William B. Drake, Jr. “The BSC and the Bluegrass State Games can provide our students real-life experience through internships and job placement opportunities. This can be an invaluable opportunity for them.”
The first such program will be the college’s involvement with the upcoming Bluegrass Sports Awards where they will be the presenting sponsor of the VIP Reception on Feb. 15 at the Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa in Lexington. As part of the partnership, students currently in the program will be able to attend the Awards banquet that will highlight achievements of individuals in Kentucky sports, such as Tom Hammond, Jim Host, Martha Layne Collins and Jerry Carroll.
“We are excited to team up with Midway College and their terrific sport management program,” stated Terry Johnson, Executive Director of the Bluegrass Sports Commission. “There are many areas on which we can partner and ideas we can develop together that will be of great benefit to the program and its students.”
In addition to the VIP reception, the partnership will include the BSC and the Midway College Sports Management program working together on professional development opportunities for Midway students. The BSC will work to development events to promote and enhance Midway’s Sports Management program to prospective students, as well as provide Midway students with internship opportunities.
