Stoops alters game week practice

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Mark Stoops came off the practice field and said he was changing things up in his game week preparation.

Stoops is putting his team through a lighter workout Thursday, followed by a faster practice Friday, the day before the game.

"Just a little bit of rest and recovery and not go so long without having the speed of the game." said Stoops. "There's plenty of other schools that have done this, so we did a little study in the off season and looked at it and it's just another part of the plan to try to play faster."

Stoops is hopeful the work his team has put in will translate to the field Saturday against UT-Martin. "It's important for us to go out and show that the work we've done and show how we've improved. Just for our team as well, but certainly for the fans. That's important to me that we go out and show them a good team."

Kickoff for Kentucky and UT-Martin is set for Noon Saturday. The game will be televised by the SEC Network.
