LOUISVILLE, Ky (WKYT) - UK Coach Mark Stoops along with offensive coordinator Eddie Gran and defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot went before the Greater Louisville Alumni Club Thursday.
Stoops has wanted his team to be able to handle more, have more capacity. With fall camp just over a week off he said he seeing it.
"I see that," said Stoops. "I see that right now, with what we're allowed to do with them in the summer. I see them more consistent. Obviously I see them big and strong. I know we've been pushing them running and I just want to make sure they have the endurance to be able to handle a camp and be able to practice more physical and be able to practice longer."
The Kentucky offense will be run by redshirt sophomore Drew Barker and Gran believes naming Barker the starter in the spring has been a plus.
"Our kids went to him as being that leader," said Gran. "He had information all summer long where he was out running our practices. He had to do that and the kids looked to him for that leadership, and he did that, and they were able to continue where we left off in the spring."
Gran installed a new offense in the spring but he believes his players will pick up where they left off without any review period.
"We'll go through our first five installs," said Gran. We just got done finishing up the playbook and making sure everything is right there, but we're actually throwing more on them day six, day seven, in our first double-day. It's time to grow"
