LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The football Wildcats held a scrimmage Wednesday morning at Commonwealth Stadium and coach Mark Stoops was pleased with the way his team handled certain situations, especially on offense.
“We needed to put the ball down and move it,” Stoops said afterwards.
“The offense really played better than I expected, by what I’ve been seeing in practice,” he said.
Stoops said the UK defense struggled with the tempo of the scrimmage.
“It does suck the life out of defenses sometimes,” Stoops said of playing fast on offense. “We’ve not arrived yet, but it was better.”
Stoops was asked about the quarterback situation, which has been a hot topic since spring practice. He said there still has been no decision on who will start.
“It’s really hard to figure out,” he said. “I just don’t want to make a decision when I’m not ready.”
“We’ll figure it out. We’ll figure it out here in the next week.”
“We’re starting to see what the strength and weakness is for each quarterback, and really what we’re going to be, what’s going to be our identity offensively,” he added. “So that will play into that decision.”
