LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK coach Mark Stoops doesn't get many chances to relax and get away. He took time Monday to play in Jacob Tamme's Swings For Soldiers Golf Tournament at the University Club.
With the start of fall practice only about three weeks off, Stoops is ready to get started. "I feel good, anxious to get back. The staff and myself are fulltime back in the office starting Wednesday, so we're ready to get going."
Going into his first season at UK, Stoops said he was looking for improvement. He's looking for more of it as his second season quickly approaches. "Ya know, same thing, you saw the problems last year. We're looking to improve in all those areas but we're not there yet . We need to continue to grow, obviously at wide receiver, get more physical, and of course we've got to figure out the quarterback situation."
Offensive Coordinator Neal Brown is looking to take a big step with the Wildcat offense and it starts at quarterback. "We've got to have a guy who makes good decisions and is accurate with the ball." said Brown. "And really, what accuracy means, is give our guys an opportunity, once they catch it to make a play after the catch."
Stoops will be answering questions at SEC Media Days later this week. He said did have a chance to vacation with his family in Florida this summer. "Destin, oh yeah, good weather, it was fun."
