LEXINGTON, Ky. - (WKYT) Former Kentucky tight end Jacob Tamme and his wife Allison hosted their annual Swings For Soldiers Classic Monday at the University Club. The proceeds build homes for seriously wounded combat veterans.
"It's something that we're really proud to be involved with, " said Tamme. "And more importantly when you talk to the veterans, they've all had great experiences and loved their houses and it's making a big difference for them."
Since 2010 the tournament has raised more than $500,000 and built six homes.
The 2016 honoree is Kevin Blanchard of Charlottesville, Virginia who lost a leg serving in Iraq in 2005.
