Tapiture returns to Churchill Downs for Derby 140

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -Tapiture won the Kentucky Jockey Club last fall at Churchill Downs. He returns Saturday hopeful of winning the Kentucky Derby.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, Tapiture is 8-1 in the morning line. Running at Oaklawn in Arkansas, Tapiture won the Southwest Stakes. He then finished second in the Rebel Stakes and fourth in the Arkansas Derby after going off the favorite.

"Not exactly, definitley not the outcome we were looking for." said Asmussen. "Concerned with that race going forward but everyday hes been here at Churchill, I thought that hes done better. Hes really settled in nicely, he seems to be very comfortable with the surroundings, and these are unique surroudnings, especially this time of year with all that's going on and all of those things will have to go right for him to have success Saturday."
