Former Morehead State golfer Josh Teater is in the field for this summer's British Open. Teater led qualifying Monday in Plano, Texas.
Teater made bogey on the first hole at Gleneagles Couontry Club but shot 64-69 to qualify with a total of 133. Winds gusted to 30 mile per hour just outside Dallas. The Open Championship will be played at Muirfield starting July 18.
Teater is enjoying his best season ever as a professional, winning more than $1 million dollars on tour. Monday night he said playing the Birtish will be a new experience for him but he's looking forward to it.
Teater did not play the Byron Nelson Championship last week in order to be ready for the 36 hole Open qualifier Monday. He will tee it up in the Colonial this week in Fort Worth.
