Teater qualifies for U.S. Open


Lexington's Josh Teater will play in the U.S. Open next week at historic Merion just outside Philadelphia. Teater qualfied Monday finishing 10-under par for 36 holes in Columbus, Ohio.

Monday morning Teater fired a 9-under 63 at Brookside in Columbus. Later in the day he posted a 1-under par round at The Lakes.

The U.S. Open will be the first major championship for Teater. Last month he qualified to play in the British Open which will be held at Muirfield in July.

Former EKU golfer Brandon Brown, playing in Springfield, Ohio, also qualified Monday to play in the U.S. Open, shooting 70-65. Brown won the NGA Tour's Cherry Blossom Classic in Georgetown last month.
