LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Kentucky sophomore quarterback Patrick Towles made his first career start one to remember. Towles led the Wildcats on Saturday to a 59-14 rout of Tennessee-Martin.
“I feel like I played alright,” Towles said after. “I definitely left some throws out there. There’s a couple mistakes. I won’t make those next Saturday.”
Towles finished the game 20-for-29 passing for 377 yards and one touchdown. It was Towles’ first touchdown pass since the 2012 season.
“I was very pleased with Patrick. Very happy for him,” coach Mark Stoops said. “The big thing was he was very poised and he made good decisions.”
“I think he controlled the offense well,” Ryan Timmons said.
“We know he has the talent to get the ball downfield,” Stoops said. “I think it’s important for him to be efficient in the intermediate areas. I thought he did that.”
