LEXINGTON, Ky. - National NCAA Division III coaches and sports information directors have taken notice of Transylvania's 15-4 record and five-game winning streak, returning the Pioneers to the D3hoops.com top 25 for the first time since the first week of the season.
Transy checks into this week's poll at No. 22. The Pioneers were No. 16 in the preseason top 25, but dropped out after losing their season opener to Catholic in the Hoopsville National Invitational.
Transy has also won 11 of its past 12 games and at 10-2, trails only Rose-Hulman (17-2, 11-1 HCAC) in the Heartland Conference race. The Pioneers are the defending HCAC regular season champions and will meet the Engineers Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Beck Center.
Rochester leads the latest poll, followed by St. Thomas, Whitworth, VPI, and UW Stevens Point. The Pioneers received 108 points to finish at No. 22, just behind Washington University (114) and ahead of No. 23 Rose-Hulman (100).
