LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Chris Rumph coaches the defensive line for Nick Saban at Alabama. That name probably sounds familiar. He's the uncle of Kentucky defensive tackle Donte Rumph.
"He's a great influence on what I have become," said Donte. Chris went to South Carolina, then coached high school football at the school Donte was heading to. He learned from his uncle. "Just hanging around the guys and kind of picking up on small things, just the game basically."
Chris coached at Clemson and is now in his third season in Tuscaloosa. Both nephew and uncle are busy during the season but they do communicate. "We can't really communicate as well as we'd like to but when we can we'll try to keep in touch. Donte did hear from Chris with a text this week. The message: "Roll Tide."
