Much has been said about the Air Raid Offense and it should be wide open when Kentucky opens against Western Kentucky Saturday night. But the Cats will also offer some punch from the backfield, you could call it "Thunder and Lightning."
Senior Raymond will be the starting running back for the Cats when the season kicks off. "Raymond will be the guy," said coach Mark Stoops. "We expect him to be able to carry a big load and be able to run it quite a few times."
But Stoops also believes he has good depth. That depth includes another senior, Jonathan George. Offensive coordinator Neal Brown says he definitely can count him. "I thought he was the best player in both our scrimmages on offense. A hard ose kid, was physical and broke tackles, so I've got a lot of trust in him."
Sanders is quick and can make people miss, George is more known as a power runner. You could call them "Thunder and Lightning." "You can call it that." said Sanders. "I'm more lightning, he's more thunder but your'e going to see he can fly too."
George beleives he just made the most of every opportunity hes had in the preseason. "I tried to take advantage of each rep I had and just take advantage of the opprtunity and implement the things I was taught from the staff into my game. And I feel like it was a great experience and I had an opportunity to make some big plays and impress the coaches."
Kickoff for Kentucky and Western Kentucky is at 7 p.m. EST Saturday. The game is televised by ESPN News.
