LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky sophomore safety Ashely Lowery is hospitalized with injuries suffered in a car accident early Saturday morning near his hometown in Georgia.
We're told Lowery was not wearing a seat belt, and was thrown from the car he was driving.
A family spokesman says the extent of his neck injury is unknown, but we're told he has no significant brain damage.
UK Athletic Department Spokesman Tony Neely confirmed that Lowery is being treated in a hospital but said the school was still gathering details about the accident.
The Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia has him listed in critical but stable condition.
WKYT will have the latest information as it becomes available.
