LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - New UK coach Mark Stoops says he's getting used to speaking at sold out events.
Stoops, along with coordinators Neal Brown and D.J. Eliot spoke on Friday at the Louisville alumni kickoff luncheon, where a record-crowd of more than 800 were on hand.
On Saturday, Stoops added yet another event to his list.
The coach and his staff hosted the annual UK Women's Football Clinic, where more than 500 women turned out for the daylong event.
"It's really nice. It inspires us, to get out here and see a packed house," Stoops said. "Whether it's a luncheon yesterday in Louisville or the women's clinic today, it's great to see the energy."
Senior linebacker and captain Avery Williamson was among more than a dozen players in attendance. Williamson says the new staff has brought a new attitude to the program.
"There's a lot more excitement," Williamson said, as he heads into his final season as a Wildcat. "It gives us momentum going into the season. The fans are getting excited about it and it's great for everybody."
