UK's Williamson among NCAA leaders in tackles

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - His 13 tackles in Kentucky’s 29-24 loss to Georgia Saturday night have left linebacker Avery Williamson in third place in the Southeastern Conference, and among the leaders in the NCAA.

A.J. Johnson of Tennessee leads the league and is 7th nationally with 11.00 tackles-per-game; Daren Bates of Auburn is second in the league, 12th in the NCAA at 10.57 tpg. and Avery Williamson ranks 19th in the country, third in the conference with 10.13 tpg.

UK’s DeMarcus Sweat tied with Tennessee’s Cordarrelle Patterson for the SEC's top spot in return yards, totaling 111 yards on five tries.

Tailback Jonathan George’s career-high 87 yards on just 12 carries were the fifth-highest total in the SEC Saturday. Vanderbilt’s Zac Stacy led the league with 169 yards on 27 attempts in the Commodores’ win over Auburn.

The Wildcats visit Missouri in Columbia this Saturday, the first time the Tigers will face the Wildcats as members of the Southeastern Conference. It’s a 12:21 p.m. ET kickoff, which you can see on ESPNU, with air time set for noon.

The Wildcats will have to contain Mizzou’s Marcus Murphy, who is third nationally in punt returns with 18.88 yards per return. As a team, the Tigers are fourth in the NCAA in yards-per-return.

Missouri is 25th in the nation in turnover margin, at 0.86 per contest. Four SEC teams are among the top 16: Mississippi State (1st – 2.43 margin); Alabama (3rd – 2.00 margin); Florida (9th – 1.57 margin) and LSU (16th – 1.13 margin).
