UTEP, UK game on horizon to celebrate anniversary of racial milestone

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UTEP basketball coach Tim Floyd took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce that the Miners have tentatively scheduled a game with Kentucky in 2016. A game between the two schools would mark the 50th anniversary of the Texas Western-UK game from the 1966 NCAA Tournament championship game.

Texas Western became the University of Texas-El Paso in 1967.

UTEP is reportedly trying to get the game scheduled for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, which is observed every third Monday in January, at the University of Maryland, the site of that historic title matchup.
