Williams will miss Kent State game

Senior tailback CoShik Williams will miss UK's home opener on Saturday due to an injury. Coach Joker Phillips made the announcement following Thursday's practice.

Williams was shaken up in the second quarter of Sunday's loss at Louisville after being hit by Cardinals' linebacker Preston Brown. Williams came out of the game holding his back.

Phillips said Williams has since been experiencing muscles spasms.

"The guy's a tough guy," Phillips said. "The thing we've got to have him for, for the long haul. He's not a real big guy and we need CoShik full speed."

Williams was limited to 10 carries for 62 yards against Louisville.

Raymond Sanders will get the start on Saturday, but Phillips said some of the younger backs will see action.

"We'll start with Raymond. JonJon (Jonathan George) will get a few snaps and then we'll put the big fella in there," Phillips said.

The "big fella" is true freshman Dyshawn Mobely, who has drawn rave reviews from his coaches. Mobely played against Louisville, catching one pass for one yard.

Kickoff for Saturday's game is set for 7:35. The game can be seen live on CSS.
